Ok, so you like the idea of joining a sax. Ensemble  ... and you want to know more !  This section is just for you :)

What you’ll need ...

- A saxophone.  Any type will do, but we’re always short of Soprano and Baritone players !  If you’re just starting out and you want some advice, why not come along to one of our evening sessions to see & hear the instruments we play.

- To be able to read music.  This doesn’t mean you need to be able to sight-read complex pieces - far from it.  Our ensemble ranges from those just starting out, to some who’ve been playing for many years, with every shade in-between.

- We don’t teach basic saxophone playing, so you’ll need to find a tutor.  Again, just ask us if you can’t find anyone suitable.

- To be free on Monday evenings  - we meet at Eastcliffe in Victoria Avenue, Douglas at 6:15pm in the school term.  You’ll also need to commit maybe a couple of hours each week to practice in-between rehearsal sessions ...  We provide printable music and audio copies for you to practice with - once you become a member !

If you’d like to join in with us, please drop us an email

(see Contact Us) or phone Jem Cotton on 842874.

That’s it ! - See you at the rehearsals!

Our current repertoire covers quite a wide range of musical types, with difficulty levels ranging from Easy to ’Intermediate +’

Where we play more complex or challenging music, we often provide easier ‘support’ parts for those who are less confident, so that all can join in.

Looking through our performance lists, we have music from every genre .. Ballads, Classical, Jazz / Swing, Celtic, Ethnic, Pop, Dances, Hymns, Marches and so on.  The saxophone is a versatile instrument, and this is reflected in our choice of music.

There’s no reason to let a little thing like that stand in your way !

There are music shops on the island who provide instruments on a rental scheme, which is an excellent low-risk way to start off .. And once you’re under way, you can use our contacts to buy the instrument of your dreams at an affordable price !
