Welcome to the Home of the Manx Saxophone Ensemble

Home. About Us. What's On. Joining In. Gallery. Resources. Contact Us.

Ok, so you like the idea of joining a sax. Ensemble  ... and you want to know more..   This section is just for you :)

What you’ll need ...

You’ll also need to commit maybe a couple of hours each week to practice in-between rehearsal sessions ...  We provide printable music and audio copies for you to practice with - once you become a member !

If you’d like to join in with us, please drop us an email - (see Contact Us) or phone Jem Cotton on 842874.

That’s it ! - See you at the rehearsals !

Our current repertoire covers quite a wide range of music types, with difficulty levels ranging from Easy to ’Intermediate Plus’

Where we play more complex or challenging music, we often provide easier ‘support’ parts for those who are less confident, so that all can join in.

Looking through our performance lists, we have music from almost every genre .. Ballads, Classical, Jazz / Swing, Celtic, Ethnic, Pop, Dances, Hymns, Marches and so on.

The saxophone is a versatile instrument, and this is reflected in our choice of music.

If you’re in full-time education, here’s one more reason to join in.

At the Manx Saxophone Ensemble, we actively encourage young talent with financial support.

If you’re in full-time education, we will waive our subscription fees, so you don’t have to pay to be a member of the band, attend rehearsals or play in concerts   ... and our section leaders will make you feel at home from the very first session.

From time to time, we put on special events (such as weekend workshops, trips away etc.).  These normally have a cost separate to our subscription fees, but again we subsidise participation for students to keep it all affordable..

If you’d like to know more about the how the group operates  feel free to download our guide - Playing with the MSE.

The playing guide explains how the MSE works, and how you can both benefit from, and contribute to, the group.

If you have any further questions, please fee free to contact our Music Director.
