As part of the HuMS weekend in July, the Manx Saxophone Ensemble organised a barbecue on Peel beach, with attendant spontaneous music playing, and of course a sunny backdrop. Here are a few pics from the afternoon.
No less than 9 players from the Manx Saxophone Ensemble took and passed Jazz exams in the Spring term.
Moving into the autumn term, we’re at it again, entering 8 of our players for Jazz practicals. Fingers crossed !

Sax Theory
In the chilly depths of winter last year and under the auspices of the Manx Telecom
“It’s our community” scheme, the MSE was proud to be awarded a large, and more importantly
weather-
Given the island’s often sunny but sometimes predictable weather, this means that the Sax. Ensemble can arrange outdoor concerts with confidence, and play in all but the foulest of weather.
The ensemble is very much a community group, consisting of amateur musicians from across the island.
We play at numerous civic, community and charity events throughout the year, so it’s particularly fitting that the award came from M.T.’s “It’s our community” scheme.
The picture above was taken early in the morning of May 3rd, at the start of the Manx Telecom Exchange Challenge event. It was a bright but cold and windy morning, so the Gazebo has already proven it’s worth !
